PLOT
[/u][/center][/blockquote]Blackwood Asylum has been established since the early 1900's. It was first opened by Dr Henry Blackwood who believed the criminally insane were a different class of people to regular lawbreakers. He believed they could, after a series of treatments, eventually be cured and introduced back into the community as a brand new person. For years this theory was one of success. The doctor was known in all the upper class circles as being a man of the people. He was classed as a hard worker, somebody who had a dream to improve the human race and somebody who had the determination to play his part.
Since it was built the asylum has been destroyed by fire on three separate occasions. The Doctor was criticized for becoming too lenient in his old age, for being too trusting. It was only after the death of Dr Blackwood (Ironically killed by one of the patients he was trying to save) that his son took over the asylum. A doctor like his father, but his views were far stricter and much less compassionate. Life for the patients changed dramatically, there were stricter punishments, shorter breaks, more intrusive therapies and experimental testing with or without the patients consent.
The Blackwood Asylum was handed down through the family for generations. It just because natural for the Blackwoods to become doctors, it was in their blood. There was never a gap in which the asylum was without a head. Until the year 1980 came around. The Blackwood's had an unfortunate few years in which only females were born into the family. This never happened, the woman would produce the doctors, they would give birth to the males who would run the asylum. But now the asylum was to be handed to it's first female head. Susan Blackwood. She accepted the position begrudgingly because nobody else wanted it. After many many years of hard work she got the asylum back on the same track as the original Dr Henry had intended.
Tragedy struck Susan when she turned 40, only a month in her new job, she was brutally strangled to death by a patient while in a one on one meeting. Her own son took over, Edward Blackwood. The first item on his agenda was to have the criminal killed. Of course on paper it looked like an accident. A foolish young man, only twenty three at the time when he inherited the asylum. He grew more bitter as the years passed, more angry and ruthless. The asylum became a prison for tortured souls. It's original intention a thing of the past. The Asylum now stands for experimental research. The patients are little more than inmates. Once you are locked in, you don't come back out. The staff here are just as lethal as the patients. The year is 2010. Edward Blackwood is now 69, his daughter Tina in next in line to the sick throne, she's already a matron in the asylum, just biding her time. What kind of a leader will she become?[/size]
