Alyssa knew that coming home after four years away would be a challenge. Even if in that time, the mythical creatures of the night didn't decide to come out into the open, it would still be just as hard to settle back into her old life in Shreveport, Louisiana. She didn't count on it being lonely, though. She was, after all, pretty popular and her family was rather well known in the area. In spite of all that, she felt alone.
Most of her friends had moved away entirely and the Shreveport she knew was totally different now. She was starting to worry that she didn't know where she fit in. That would be a first for Little Ms. Perfect Alyssa.
Tonight, she found herself at the lake in the tiny woods in the small town of Bon Temps. She was used to the area because it houses one of her all time favorite food meccas - Merlotte's. On days, though, that she wanted to think and we away from the world, she would drive right past Merlotte's and go to the secluded lake. She'd been there for hours, now.
Just after the sun set completely, she picked herself up off the ground where she sat, crossed-legged and staring into the unmoving water. Time to head back, she told herself. As she got to her feet, she stopped. She thought she heard something - a twig snap, perhaps. She scanned the area quickly; her hand dove into her pocket for her pepper spray. Alyssa Addison Baker

--------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------- Once again there Zeke was. Walking around without Akasha knowing he'd gone out. Again. Though he knew that she knew he was getting out every now and then. But since he did so infrequently she never said anything about it. Zeke had finally come to grips with what he was and was gaining very small amounts of control. He always ensured he was fully fed before having to be around people or before the chance of being around others happened. And lately he and Danika had begun to get along, to an extent. As Akasha was always going everywhere, Danika had been a great help to Zeke in someways. Suggesting better ideas of how to go about keeping oneself in line.
But he'd finally gotten to where he wanted to be. Since had come to Bon Temps this lake had become his favorite place to be. He'd walked into Fangtasia once and he was somehow appalled at how his new species was viewed. Like they were some sadistic, sex driven, dungeon dwellers. And now that he'd become one he understood it was far more.
But his attention was caught by a scent. A faint one. Someone had passed by here recently and he followed it. And it had lead him too the water's edge. But he came to a sudden halt as he saw that someone was still there. Something snapped as he stopped. Causing the woman he'd found to go on the defensive. He watched as she pulled the pepper spray, and laughed. He then stepped into the clear moonlight. "I'm sorry if I startled you. But that wouldn't work on me anyway." he said. His voice held its common friendly tone. He had no intention of bringing this woman any harm.
He was fully fed so she would have nothing to fear from Zeke. --------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------- Words || 306 Tags || Alyssa Baker Outfit || above pic

The small can of useless pepper spray dropped to the floor was Alyssa realized what she was in the presence of. A vampire. There she was, totally defenseless, in the middle of the woods - on the edge of a lake where her body can easily be disposed of, no less - and, just 10 from her was some unknown vampire.
Before the poor girl got a chance to react, the stranger had spoken; he had apologized for having startled her. That was certainly the last thing she would have expected. She smiled nervously as she realized he also said that her little line of defense wouldn't have worked on him to begin with. That can was now rolling on the ground and stopped right in between them.
"It's alright," she answered. "I bet I startled you, too, anyway." Alyssa wasn't quite sure about that, but she felt like she had to say something to keep herself from yelling for help; to stop herself from screaming at the top of her lungs. As curious as she was about vampires, this is not how she imagined one of her first encounters would be.Alyssa Addison Baker

--------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------- He shot her a smile. "No not really." he laughed. He walked forward then reached down and picked up the fallen can of pepper spray. And he came to a stop just a few feet from her and held the can back to her. "Take no offense, but it'd take more than just you to startle me." he joked. Zeke hadn't seen anyone out here in a few weeks. He did have the occasional company he came across.
"Not many venture out here when its dark." he pointed out. He admitted to himself she was a beautiful woman. But he wasn't so sure how to take this meeting. He didn't doubt she was someone he could without a doubt have fun with. "So what brings you out here in the dark, in a town that has become filled with vampires." he asked. She either had nothing to worry about, or didn't care whether or not his kind were nearby. --------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------- Words || uncounted Tags || Alyssa Baker Outfit || above pic

Good question, Alyssa thought. She was, after all, alone in the woods after dark. And he was right, Bon Temps was, in fact, swarming with vampires all of a sudden. You wouldn't think that a tiny Louisiana town would attrack this many of the undead population but it did. Alyssa assumed it had something to do with the vampire bar in the next town. Maybe Fangtasia was something of a place-to-be for vampires. There was a pause before Alyssa answered the young vampire. In that minute, she noticed that he had taken the time to really look at her and she didn't know if that was a good thing or not. Slowly and tentatively, she answered, "I just needed a place to think." Alyssa took the can from him and thanked him with a little smile. She took care not to touch his skin; she didn't know if it was a good idea to do so so she didn't.
"My name's Alyssa," she told him.

--------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------- "I know what you mean." Zeke said as he handed her the can. "My name is Zeke by the way." He could see that she was nervous. But then again he didn't know who wouldn't be. Being a vampire tended to scare a few people. This had become his place to think. And the only place he knew where there weren't be many people. Which was safer for both him and the human populace of Bon Temps. "I've come here, 3 maybe 4 times a week since I was turned about a two months ago." he smiled. Vampire or not, he knew he was still a baby one. and he knew he had quite a bit to learn.
But he didn't really know how she would take that little fact. Many knew the problems, new vampires had in controlling themselves. And Zeke was no different. Danika had to put him in his place a few times. But he'd always apologized for his actions after he got control of himself. --------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------- Words || uncounted Tags || Alyssa Baker Outfit || above pic

"Zeke," she repeated. He hadn't held out his hand to shake so neither did she. Intead, Alyssa just kinda stood there, rooted on the spot. She had no idea how uncomfortable it would be to meet a vampire all of a sudden. Or, maybe it was the fact that she was meeting a vampire alone in the woods that was making her iffy. She listened to the boy before and realized he was wondering why they hadn't run into each other before.
"I just got back home," she began. "From California. That's why I haven't been here as often as I used to before. I live in Shreveport, actually. I assume you're familiar with Shreveport?" That may not have been the smartest assumption, but it was a safe one. After all, what vampire in the area wouldn't know about Fangtasia, right?
Alyssa unfroze with a sigh and walked towards the edge of the lake where that big tree was. She had used it for shade earlier when the sun was still up. She waited to see of Zeke would follow her.

--------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------- Zeke shot her a grin then laughed."Um, sorry. I'm actually from California. My maker is it's Queen." he clarified. He saw no harm in telling her that information. After all, just about every person who saw Akasha knew who she was. Zeke was still trying to get a grasp on vampire politics. To him they seemed pretty simple and cut throat at the same time. So he'd already decided he'd be trying to stay out them as much as possible. But as seeing who his maker was he didn't know how successful that would be for him. But he'd still try and keep his distance from it.
Then he heard her mention Shreveport. He heard about the town, as it was close to Bon Temps. But he kept himself within the confines of Bon Temps. He didn't want to venture far here till he knew he knew how to keep himself in check. "Kinda. You see I've never been out of this town really since I was turned." he told her. But he stood and watched her walk to the edge of the water, and Zeke followed to an extent. He knew he could be unreliable at times when it came to being around people. Though he had a pretty good hold on himself.
"Since I was brought and turned here I haven't really felt like going anywhere. I guess it just has the birthplace feeling to it. Well, rebirth to be more exact." he laughed. After a couple weeks of being resilient, defiant, and just plain difficult; he'd finally come to grips with what he'd been turned into. He no longer felt any resentment towards Akasha for her actions. Life for him as a vampire was really no different from when it was as him being human. Other than the whole aspect of drinking blood, sleeping during the day, and the fact he'd never die unless killed in the only ways a vampire could be killed. But somethings had changed. Like his clothing style. He gotten a bit darker with what he chose to wear. --------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------- Words || uncounted Tags || Alyssa Baker Outfit || above pic

Alyssa was pleasantly surprised to hear that he had come from California. She, herself, did just get back from four years at UCLA. Although, he had totally lost her on the part about his maker being a its queen. "California has a queen?" she asked, almost to herself. Of course, he would have heard her loud and clear, though.
She listened as he spoke of him staying in the little town on Bon Temps since he was 'turned'. So, he's just recently been turned, Alyssa assumed, a little unsure why. After all, to a vampire, 100 years may not be all that long at all to stay in one place. If that were the case, though, it must have been quite a feat trying to hide who he really was in this tiny town for the past century."Why do you stay here?" she asked, voicing out her curiousity.
The helpless human didn't even consider that she may not like the answer she may get.Alyssa Addison Baker

--------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------- He smiled a little. “Um, she the Vampire Queen of California. It’s the whole vampire hierarchy. I’m still trying to get a hold of it myself.” He laughed. There were something’s he hadn’t got a complete hold on yet. Learning how the world of his new life worked. Fortunately for him he was a quick learner and it didn’t take him long to catch onto something he found interesting. And the new life he’d been given, though reluctantly, he’d come to begin enjoying. He figured that if this is what had happened to him he’d try and make the best of it with whatever he could do. But he’d realized that his mind had drifted off and quickly looked back at her as she asked hi why he stayed here in Bon Temps. A question he didn’t really have an answer for.
“Not really sure now that I think about it,” he answered. “Other than the fact I’ve been forbidden to leave until my maker returns.” He said. And he stopped there. He didn’t yet understand the entire maker and progeny control thing just yet. And didn’t feel like having to explain something else he wasn’t sure about. But he’d already opened his mouth, so he knew it was possible the question may come. And several thoughts went through his head of how to avoid it. from simply avoiding to answer it, to all out glamoring the woman. It was a skill he continued to practice with and used when he went looking for someone to eat.

Alyssa listened in amazement.Vampire hierarchy,he had said; that was definitely news to news to the girl's ears. She got a mental image of Queen Elizabeth II of England all dressed in black. Of course, that may not be what vampire queens are like at all, she thought to herself. Looking at how Zeke was dressed, she had no doubt that this queen of California he's talking about wouldn't be caught dead in a creme colored dressed and matching bonnet.
Even more wonder crossed her mind when she heard that he was forbidden to leave. Forbidden. She didn't think there was much that can keep a vampire from doing anything he didn't want to. She certainly had a lot to learn about the latest members of modern society. She looked at her new acquaintance and thought, Maybe he can teach me.
Alyssa was a little more relaxed now, having gotten used to a vampire around her. She didn't her guard down, though, just in case. She kept the pepper spray where she can easily take it out, totally ignoring the fact that it's not gonna do much good should Zeke decide to attack. "So, you're literally stuck in Bon Temps?" she asked him. "Can't even go to Fangtasia if you wanted to?"
By this time, Alyssa was sitting on the ground again, under the tree just at the edge of the lake. It was her favorite spot and even though she didn't have much use for the shade the tree had to offer, she found herself exactly where she sits all the time. She fixed her dressso she can sit modestly, waiting to see if the vampire will join her.Alyssa Addison Baker

--------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------- Zeke simply responded with a shrug of admittance. “Pretty much.” He smiled. He was stuck here in Bon Temps, well within the city limits of Bon Temps anyway. So he just made the best of it to suit his own needs. Though in the end he didn’t really have any choice in the matter. He’d have to do as his maker saw fit. But Zeke observed this human like he would something in a cage. He quickly averted his gaze as not to be seen doing so. He didn’t want her thinking he was eying his next meal. But he stood and watched her as she walked back to the edge and sat on the ground.
His feet moved in response to her sitting down. And he walked only a little closer to her before stopping, again not needed her to think he was stalking her for another meal. Sometimes he did figure he was overly cautious about being around people. In the end he didn’t want to take any chances.

Footsteps followed her and stopped just short of where she sat. A sudden fear gripped her, knowing that she had her back turned on a vampire she didn't know and had no idea is he was about to attack. But something told her he wasn't going to, though. Maybe it was the fact that he hasn't yet or that he wasn't exactly discreet about walking towards her. After all, vampires can be as sneaky as the needed to be. Zeke, on the other hand, didn't use vampire speed and even stepped on a couple of twigs in the process.
"Doesn't it get lonely?" Alyssa asked after she'd taken a few deep breaths to make the fear subside a little. Though she can still feel her heart beating faster than usual.
She, herself, found Shreveport to be too small and constricting when she was younger, which is why she left for California to begin with. She couldn't even begin to imagine how boring Bon Temps would be for a vampire. Alyssa Addison Baker
