Personality: For his first 1000 years as a vampire, he was a violent, bloodthirsty, with no regard for human life. However, as centuries went by, Godric began to sympathize with humanity and other forms of life. He came to realize that the human race's fear of vampires was well founded, and he had contributed to it.Despite the great degree of compassion he exhibited in later life, Godric was still capable of acts of extreme brutality when properly motivated (Such as the snapping of Gabe's neck after his attempted rape of Sookie).

History: Godric was born approximately 134 B.C. His country of origin is unknown, however, the tattoos on his body indicate that he is from the Barbarian age of the Roman Empire. Godric was born into slavery, and suffered much cruelty at the hands of the human race. At the age of 15, Godric was turned into a vampire. After being turned, Godric sought to avenge himself upon humanity, and went on a killing spree. About a thousand years later, Godric traveled north to Scandinavia, where he lived in the wilderness as a savage, killing and feeding on whatever humans crossed his path.
Godric saw the viking Eric Northman fighting on the battlefield somewhere in Scandinavia. Extremely impressed with Eric's battle skills, Godric offered the fatally wounded viking immortality and made him a vampire. A little while later, Godric was in Germany. He took to watching a young girl Maci Holland, who was married and treated very badly by her husband. Something inside him sparked and he wanted to help the girl, he caught her out one night and pulled her into a alley way. He told her his name was Godric, and that he'd been watching her for the past couple of months. He asked her if she wanted to escape her abusive husband in exchange for her life and mortality and made her a vampire.
During World War II, Godric, and Eric posed as Nazi Schutzstaffel agents in order to infiltrate "Operation werewolf". In 1945 they tracked a werewolf down to a house in Augsburg, Germany. The werewolf attacked and killed an American soldier before turning on Eric, but Godric stabbed her in the arm with a bayonet, pinning her to the wall. Eric demanded to know who her master was, but the werewolf said she'd only tell them if he let her drink some of his blood. Godric was deeply offended by the idea, as vampire blood is sacred. Eric, however, didn't care. He bit himself, and allowed the werewolf to feed from his wrist. She then revealed that her master is a vampire. Eric was shocked, and the werewolf took advantage of his "A vampire is never at the mercy of his emotions" pushing Eric to the ground and attempted to stake him. Godric intervened, and snapped the werewolf's neck. Godric lectured his progeny about maintaining control of his emotions, before promising to hunt the blasphemous vampire down. Shortly after this confrontation, Eric and Godric parted ways, and would not meet again for many decades.
At some point after the events of World War II, Godric was offered the position of vampire king of Texas, but he declined, instead establishing a nest in Dallas, becoming sheriff of Area 9. Over the years many vampires joined his nest, among them, Stan Davis and Isabel, who became his most trusted underlings.
