Orange glows broke up the night as her heels clicked firmly against the pavement, the swish of her dress brushing against her long legs. People bustled around her busy with their evening lives, last minute shopping, making their way into the pubs and restaurants, single and alone seeking out a partner, or hands clasped on a date night.
All of them moving happy and content in their lives ignoring anyone but themselves, they still managed to notice the glowing creature as she strutted along the street. Vampires had only been out for about three years now, many had managed to accept them and intergrate them in some way, but more than a few still openly despised the twisted creatures, mistrust and revolt crossing their faces as they ducked out of the vampires way.
Veronica was well experienced in this reaction, having seen it from her entire family, friends everyone when she was exposed. She hated her maker, despised the creature for making her and abandoning her, no training or care taken to make sure the new vampire could live in the world. He did it only a few days before the vampires came out of the coffin. Her whole family had shunned her, seeking out her boyfriend he had done the same and so on, not a single soul accepting her. She had ruled, had ruled hard as the Queen Bee off her college, President of her sorority, and all round bitch extrodinaire. She was the woman all men wanted to be with, and the girl all others despised but longed for her friendship.
It all disappeared when she became a vampire.
Veronica pushed the painful memories aside as she opened the doors of a Bar, the crowds parting for her as she made her way to a table, taking a seat in a corner by herself, she crossed her proud legs and ordered a True Blood from the waitress, her eye on the window outside she longed for company, as she ignored the advances of men in the room.. each wanting a taste of the vampire.

Alyssa had spent the day apartment hunting. Since she came back into town from California, she's been staying with her parents, not unlike most recent graduates. The difference is that Alyssa could definitely afford an apartment of her own right off the bat; she just missed her old life and figured it would help to be in her childhood home. Now, though, after a few weeks at home, she decided she wanted a place of her own after all. She's been everywhere and wasn't able to find anything suitable.
Just after dark, she decided to give it up and grab a quick bite before heading home. She walked into one of her favorite bars in the area; one she hasn't been to since she returned. It was a lot like Merlotte's down in Bon Temps but the burgers were nowhere near as delicious as the Burger Lafayette.
There was quite a crowd tonight and they seemed a little excited. As hungry as she was, she didn't bother figuring out why. She grabbed an open stool at the bar and asked for a menu. Looking around as she waited, her eyes fell on a familiar sight. "Hey!" she almost yelled as she recognized her old friend, Veronica. Alyssa Addison Baker

The room was warm as the waitress bought her a bottle of O- it was a rare taste, but then she was a rare girl. Her eyes swept the night sky as she watched people moving about their lives, she spotted Alyssa the moment she entered the street, Veronicas adrenalin began to rush as she watched her walk.
Memories of their past together, of their shared passion for being number one, for being the prom queen, there where the best of friends and the biggest enemies all in one breath. Fear gripped her at the thought of Alyssa rejecting her because of what she was now, her natural confidence so altered by the stream of rejection that she was unsure how to be.
Alyssa walked into the room, her beauty following her as men turned to admire her and women stared at her outfit, she was the picture of perfection in every way. Veronica turned her head, trying to hide from her friend but wanting so badly to see her again, when she heard the lilting "HEY" she was gripped with a moment of hope as she turned her head and waved a little, having no option but to get up and walk over to her she could only hope that her friend would be the one person not to deny her for being a vampire.
"Alyssa, darling, soooo good to see you" she spoke with the confidence she had perfected, put on the face that had kept her power flowing in High School as she air kissed her friend and sat daintily next to her on the stool "long time no see gawgus one, tell your Veronica everything" she was being as fake as she could, trying so hard to hide what she was and hoping that she had finally found her friend again.

Something about Veronica seemed rather different. In fact, she seemed different, specially at first glance. If Alyssa hadn't gone to school with her for years, she probably would not have recognized her at all. For once, she seemed...sad. Alyssa was so used to her friend being one of two things: perky or bitchy. Right then, though she was neither.
The other thing that was different was a little more serious than that. As she watched, Veronica got gracefully and walked over to where she was sitting. The light hit her face and exactly how pale she was became apparently. Her eyes seemed darker and she seemed...sturdier somehow. She was undoubtedly a vampire.
By the time Veronica reached Alyssa at the bar, she had completely changed her expression and she was as Veronica was ever. Alyssa, however, sat there stunned. She let her friend give her one kiss on each cheek, which she barely returned, shocked as she was. "Tell your Veronica everything," she had said. Alyssa smiled at that, though a nervous one. "It seems as if you're the one with a story to tell, hun," she said.Alyssa Addison Baker

She had forgotten just how perceptive Alyssa could be, she was always the smarter of the two, but Veronica was so scared of being rejected again she tried hard to keep the front up. Crossing her ankles, the cherry red Manolo's displayed perfectly as she leant on the bar and waved at the bartender "Hellllllllooooooooo service here" the busy man frowned at her before coming across "yes maam?" he leant against the bar as she leaned back waving a hand in front of her face "Geez first of all lay off the cigarettes at your break bucko"
The bartender leant back shock on his face, how the hell could she know he had smoked over 12 hours ago? "Can I gettttt a Cosmo" she clicked her fingers in front of his face and rolled her eyes as he leapt back and went to get her drink "Christ but its hard to get decent help in this shithole town" Leaning forward she gripped Alyssa's hands and smiled at her ignoring the question Alyssa had asked of her "no no, my story is borrrring" leaning back and taking the drink she sipped on the pink and made a face "blech disgusting" she slipped a sideways glance at Alyssa and noted the pulse running along her friends neck.
Quickly looking away she put her face back on "Now come on, fill me in on where you have been, whatcha been doingggg, WHO are you doing" she laughed loudly at her own joke as she swallowed down more of the drink, the facade hard to hold onto as she hoped her friend would just play along, she would tell her, but she needed to wait.

"Now come on, fill me in on where you have been, whatcha been doing, who are you doing," was all Venorica had to say and Alyssa suddenly felt a little more at ease. That was just like her friend to ask something like that out of nowhere. Though still a little curious and uneasy about the fact that Veronica was now part of the whatever percentage of the population that are 'infected by a virus that leaves them allergic to sunlight', she was willing to put that aside for now. After all, they hadn't seen each other in years.
Her smile wider than ever, she reached out and gave Veronica a big hug. Despite her warm clothing, she could feel the cold emanating from her skin. "Oh, doll, I've missed you!" she told her honestly. She squeezed lightly, like she always did, though she was curious about how much pressure in a hug her friend could take now. She let go, her smile now coy, "You know a good girl doesn't kiss and tell."
Her stomach grumbled a little and she remembered why she entered the bar in begin with. Without thinking, since Alyssa usually lets her taste buds do a bulk of her decision making anyway, she ordered. "Chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes drenched in gravy please. And a coke." She immediately turned to her friend, expecting her to order something to eat with her drink and stopped dead. She completely forgot that this was not the type of thing Veronica fed on now.Alyssa Addison Baker

Relief washed over her as her arms wrapped around her friend in a big hug, she truly sounded genuine when she said that she had missed her it was a longing that Veronica had. The hug lingered for just a moment to the point that her canines protruded ever so slightly at the smell of Alyssas heat and blood she ducked her head raising her hand to cover her mouth, the napkin slipping between her fingers as she pretended to cough.
She laughed behind her hand as Alyssa joked about being a good girl, Veronica was scared, she was hungry,so hungry, living on True Blood was hard at such a young age and she had never been opposed to being with women. The sexual urge rose as her teeth pushed out further she continued to cough behind the napkin as luckily Alyssa was hungry and ordered food.
Pointing at the napkin covering her mouth and pointing at the bathroom she hoped to indicate to Alyssa she needed to go and clean up as she was coughing. Racing to the room she slipped behind the employee lounge area and sighed leaning against the wall, her chest rose as she heaved from the strain of controlling the urge to eat her friend. She did not need to breath air any more, but it would seem that her body was still able to express the emotion.
A laugh alerted her to a young blonde employee walking around the corner, she was carrying a leather handbag and wearing a slip dress, obviously on her way to work from a night out. She froze when she saw Veronica, the vampire leapt on her in an instant and dragged her into the handicap toilet area, gripping her hand over the girls mouth she dug her teeth into the girls neck, draining the life force so quickly she almost killed the waitress.
Ripping her teeth out and inhaling deeply Veronica grabbed the girls head and stared into her dazed eyes, compelling her a story about being drunk out with the girls and being sick in the toilet she laid the girl carefully on the floor of the toilet and licked her wound, watching it heal over. Stepping over the body she checked the mirror and washed off the blood, a healthy glow shone an her eyes and hair brightened as the blood coursed through her.
Heading back into the room she smiled at Alyssa, who's food had arrived, she was happily digging in. "Sorry about that darling, had a bit of a rough cough, had to... get a drink to deal with it" she smiled carefully, unaware that a tint of blood was left on the right side of her mouth.

If there was one thing that can distract Alyssa from pretty much anything - aside from boys, that is - it was food. She is such a foodie that it's a wonder she doesn't weigh 250 pounds. She was extremely lucky that she has a high metabolism and that she was pretty into sports so she could eat like a pig and maintain her figure. Considering the day she's had and suddenly running into an old friend who's made quite a change in her life, she definitely thought she deserved a good generous helping of her favorite meal. As she turned to Veronica, realizing all of a sudden what her favorite meal must be now, she shuddered a little.
Quick as the vampires usually were, though, in about half the time that it would take a normal person to do so, Veronica had left her chair and headed for the door across the room that led to the bathroom. She had been poiting to her mouth which was covered with a napkin and had coughed a little. Alyssa smiled at her and nodded and turned her back on the girl who had now walked through the door to the back.
As she sat there, Alyssa began to think about exactly how odd it was that Veronica was, in all reality, dead now. She had no idea how it came about and she hoped, for her friend's sake, that it was painless. She even half-hoped that she got herself into it and that she liked what she was doing. Alyssa, herself, was as closeted as fangbanger come and she couldn't imagine actually going up to a vampire and asking him to turn her. I really hope she wanted this, she thought.
Before she knew it, Veronica was making her way back to her. Her plate was being served at the same time, too, so, she started picking at it. When she sat down, apologizing for having left so abruptly, Alyssa turned to face her, intending to laugh it off. However, as her eyes fell on her friend's face, she dropped her fork and her eyes widened. "Had to... get a drink," she had been saying and there was definitely evidence of that. There was a small drop of blood just on the right corner of her lips.
"Veronica, you didn't!" Alyssa gasped, sadness and surprise evident on her tone of voice.Alyssa Addison Baker
