The Sheriff sat in her house, staring out the window in the living room. She stared at the stars that glowed brightly in the sky, the door was slung open and two of Maci's most trusted underlinings and nest mates were holding a boy between them. They carried him in and sat him on the couch, in a second, Maci was by his side. "What happened?" She asked calmly. A tall red headed women named Ashley spoke, "We found him. He was attacked." Maci nodded and looked at him. The boy was Justin, he had bronze hair that was in a shaggy style and fell in his face. The poor boy wasn't even 18 years old, but even though they weren't romantically involved, he was Maci's human. She was protective over him because he reminded her of her 'brother'.
She didn't really have a brother, only a very close friend she had when she was human. But she claimed him as a brother, and this human reminded her of him so much. "Find the vampire that done this." She commanded, Ashley and the other vampire whose name was Brett nodded "Yes Sheriff." They said in unison before leaving. She looked at Justin, there was bite marks on his neck and he was drained almost to the point of death. Maci knelt down, her fangs became present. As she bit into her wrist as blood started to flow into her mouth, she quickly put her bleeding wrist to Justin's mouth. Almost instinctively he began drinking.
He gripped Maci's forearm as he kept drinking, Maci wouldn't give her blood to just any human. After all vampire blood was scarred. There had only been two humans that she' given her blood to in all of her 597 years of living. Justin now making two, the other was when she turned her own progeny Tristan. She took her arm away when he had enough, the wound on her arm healed, as she wiped the remaining blood off his face with her hand. He sat up, Maci moved some hair out of his face, "Go to my bedroom. Sleep." She said and watched as he done as told. After a few minutes, the door slung open again and Ashley and Brett entered again another vampire between them.

She was angry as hell, disoriented, and confused. All she knew was that at about 7:30pm a boy and some of his friend’s were coming out of an arcade in a group of about 5 to 6 people, being really hungry and blood deprived for a couple of days made you want to just drain any random passer-by. She was walking on the other side of the street wondering around in her newly bought fur lined boots, jeans, a simple tee-shirt and a pretty maroon cardigan to keep the appearance of feeling cold. Her hair was wrapped in a loose bun with stray locks of hair framing her face and hanging down her back. She watched on as all of the boy’s friend’s left in their cars and family vans until the boy was the last one standing. She noticed him the most out of the rest because she could almost smell him from this distance, she back tracked a couple of steps then crossed the road where the boy could not see her behind the fast food building. She wanted to have him now but it was too much of a public place, she had to lure him out of sight, she started walking towards him in a calm manner trying not to run and attack him but it was proving difficult. From afar she examined his face to gauge how old he was, from the looks he seemed to be younger than 20, even 18 but she couldn’t be too sure these days with all of the modern crap. Sticking her hand in her pockets she put on a dazzling smile and continued towards him. Upon arriving at the victim she heard him intake a quick breath of air and she had to resist from breaking his neck right there and sinking her fangs into him.
“Hello, I’m Lorena I was wondering if your mom or dad was coming anytime soon, did you need a parent to wait with you.” He didn’t respond just kept staring at her without a word.
“Ummm ok then never mind.” She knew he knew something was up because she could hear his heart start to accelerate. Plan one didn’t go as well as she thought it would. So she waited for another 15 minutes until the Arcade attendant said they were shutting down early for tonight due to maintenance problems.
The boy walked towards the entrance to the 24 hr fast food place and as soon as he crossed in front of the gap between the two places she snatched him with her right hand clamped over his mouth and inclined his neck to her ever waiting fangs while her left hand went around him in a iron grip. Her fangs had already folded out and she clamped down on his neck, she didn’t need him bleeding all over the place she wanted to keep it controlled, so she aimed for the right of the main vein. She was sucking the blood all into her mouth while dragging his limp body further and further into the alley. She heard his pulse slow down and she knew he was almost dry, she sucked what was left of him feeling the blood flow into her mouth in a steady stream, stopping herself so she could enjoy the last of his life after savoring the best parts of his blood. Releasing her grip on him she threw him to the ground and straddled his waist to get better access.
He moaned in pain and she could feel the fireworks pop behind her eyes as her body grew stronger and stronger from the blood. Just as she felt the boys spark knowing she could change him her body became more alert snapping her out of the blood induced haze, she heard a rustling sound behind her a pair of vampires were lunging at her. Just in time she jumped behind the in a guarded position, each vampire passed a look between each other for a split second and she was certain they were there for the boy so she sped off in the opposite direction. Know her scent was all over the alley she knew they might back for her, so she just kept on running for awhile until she was miles away. Stopping to look behind her, she only regretted leaving behind the cords to the Arcades “maintenance” problem, hope they didn’t link her to that problem as well. She looked back in front of her and saw the vampire s from earlier, she thought they must be old to have out ran her. The only thing she remembered next was getting hit and wrist bound in silver.

Maci looked as Ashley and Brett brought the vampire into the house, she looked at her. She was an older vampire, but younger then Maci, and the two holding her. Maci guessed she was about in her 200s, when one has been a vampire as long as her, one got good at telling the ages of others. Maci wanted to go all fist and fangs on her right then, but she kept herself composed. Violence was not the answer, it never was.
Maci watched as Ashley and Brett stood off to the side of the room after they ushered vampire in. Maci looked at them, "You two can go. I can handle her. I'm almost three times her age." Maci said and Ashley and Brett nodded and left. Maci's eyes went back to the vampire, "I am Maci Holland. Sheriff of Area 10, more formally known as Houston." She introduced herself.
She walked over to the window and looked out of it, something she done alot. "You fed a human tonight. But not just any human, my human." She said stressing the word my. She turned her eyes sharp, "That is not something I tolerate. Also it's against the law." She spoke her voice so calm and cool, that it was scary.
Maci thought about always making sure someone was with Justin so this wouldn't happen again, but she knew he'd object. Besides that wasn't the way a human life should be lived, with a constant protector there, to shield him from everything. There was things that Justin had to learn and understand, but still she would mention the idea to him. "You drained him almost to the point of death....What do you have to say for yourself?" She asked her voice a tad bit louder but still cool and calm.

What do I have anything to say for myself she thought, this woman sheriff person was blaming her for the near death of the boy. How was she supposed to know that he was taken, he didn’t have a label on him saying “Owned by Sheriff Vamp-DO NOT BITE”. Lorena was fuming, she was back at full force to having had the kid’s blood, she could maybe fight off this vamp. But even she knew that was futile but from the look on her face and her slightly slower pace from her spot to the window she could tell that this sheriff had just given blood. Now that she concentrated on it more she could practically smell it, her eyes glanced in the direction of the couch where she knew the boy was. Maybe just maybe she could escape with the weakened vampire before her, but the two other vampires were older than her and she didn’t know when they would return so she didn’t want to risk anything. She gathered her thoughts again and composed herself to her best ability to answer this sheriff through tight lips and clenched teeth.
“Well in my defense sheriff I didn’t know he belonged to you. Maybe if you took better care of your property none of would be in this situation. So actually who is really to blame here.” Lorena could tell she was angry but she didn’t know how much, her own eyes narrowed at the sheriff accepting the silent challenge. But before the sheriff could say something Lorena made sure she was all done talking.
“Also I hadn’t had blood from anywhere in the past week and half I was traveling, and nowhere close to where I was had any Tru Blood. So I found a target, a secure place and if I had finished I would have disposed of the body before anyone or anything would have found it.” She flipped her hair casually and tried to think of anything else to say to stand up for herself before the sheriff resumed speaking.
“And because of my weakened state, bloodlust got the better of me and clouded my judgment; I should have scented him before drinking especially now that I am in a new area, of course I didn’t know that I had to but I guess I wasn’t thinking.” Lorena couldn’t read her face it was like a block of stone, but her own words were enough to worry about. She didn’t know if she would get put in court on trial or if she would execute her on the spot. Either was a horrible solution to their problem and she hoped that she would try and take her down, she’d be waiting and once this sheriff tried to do something it would be all game.

Maci's face showed no emotion at all, she looked sharply at the vampire as she spoke her rude words. Within a blink of an eye Maci was standing in front of her, her hand clamped around the vampires neck, and her fangs extended. "I will NOT have you disrespect me in my own house. Do I make myself clear?" she asked her voice sharp and commanding, noting to be reckoned with. That was one thing that Maci couldn't stand, she hated how the younger vampires thought they were invincible and didn't have to show their elders any respect.
"I'd watch that tongue of yours. Your in a new area, and that is not a way to get on my good side." She said letting go of her neck. As she stepped back. Maci could tell that this vampire was thinking about escaping. "I wouldn't." She said, her voice returning to its calm and cool state. "I may be short of blood, but I'm quite a bit older then you. And Ashley and Brett would just track you down again should you escape." She sat down on one of the tan leather couches. Her body sinking into it, she crossed her legs and listened to her story.
Her face looked as if she was in thought, what was she going to do with this one? It was against the law for a vampire to feed off another vampires human, Maci could send her to court where they would possibly remove her fangs. Or she could simply kill her where she stood, but what would that prove? "What do you think is a reasonable punishment?" She asked wanting to know how she thought that she should be punished.

Her eyes squinted under the pressure that the older vamp was applying to her neck. She couldn’t even get in a word or move to attack as her wrist had been bound with silver. The look on the sheriff’s face had been the most emotion Lorena had seen, the block of nothing was removed to reveal her anger, but just as fast as it had came it was gone at as well. The sheriff released her grip on Lorena and the bruise was already healing. She bowed her head as bloody tears ran down her cheeks in anger.
The words passing through the sheriff’s lips was not even registered, all Lorena saw was red. She couldn’t believe that another vampire had so blatantly disrespected her, that she was also chained up, and punishment to her was being decided because of a mere human. She knew she wouldn’t win a fight, the sheriff did say she was about 600 years old or something, but that didn’t mean she couldn’t try. Lorena was most definitely not going to a vampire court to be disgraced in front of other vampires.
With her bun out of place she flipped her loose hair to the other side making a veil around herself, a smile ghosted her face at the prospect of a good fight, whether she would come out of this fight alive was very questionable. But it fared better than dying in front of an audience. Better than dying in front of fellow vampires. So at that moment she decided to attack.
Whipping her hair out of her face Lorena slowly stood up and twisted her arms until they were in front of her again. She didn’t know how to predict the sheriff’s movements but she was sure she would try to subdue her by physical force, given that they were both weakened, but Lorena had an ace up her sleeve.
So she lunged for throat hands exposed-bloody faced and all.

Maci could tell from the vampires eyes that she was going to attack, so the vampire sheriff braced herself for the attack. As she lunged at her, the impact knocked the chair that Maci was sitting in over. The two vampires hit the floor with force. Maci took a few blows before she was on top of the vampire. Then in seconds Ashley and Brett was in the room with black gloves on. The restrained the vampire with several sliver chains.
Maci watched as they held her up, Maci dusted herself off and flipped her chair right side up. She walked into the kitchen and pulled out a bottle of Tru Blood. She popped the lid off the bottle and took a long drink, as she felt the crimson liquid slid down her throat. She walked back into the living room, where Ashley and Brett still were.
Screw being nice, even though she knew Godric wouldn't like her being a mean and unfair Sheriff at that moment she didn't care. She walked up to the vampire, a smirk on her face. "For that little act. I'm considering having you fangs taken out." Maci sat in a chair infront of the vampire, her legs crossed. "How would that fair? A vampire with no fangs, how humiliating. You'd barely be a vampire. Then I could take you to the court, and your fangs wouldn't have grew back by then that would make it even better." No one crosses Maci and gets away with it.

Lorena grunted once the action spurred and together both vampires were on the floor. She struck out forcefully with her newfound strength from her latest meal, but it still wasn’t enough to keep the older vampire subdued. And then abruptly the struggle ceased once Ashley and Brett came in to aid their sheriff. She roared in defiance, using her strength to try and resist the new silver bindings or at least make it quite difficult to get them on her. Damn their black gloves! Once they’d succeeded though, she decided that wasting anymore effort in that would get her nowhere, so she stilled, not making a sound as the silver burned through her most painfully. But her eyes said it all- narrowed in divine rage and darkened by hatred for this belittling treatment and complete disrespect.
And once Maci returned Lorena refused to cool her glare, and there were no longer crimson tears renewing the darker streaks down her face. Lorena was hell bent on fighting, and since she’d already fitted herself for reckless disregard for her life, she wasn’t backing down easily. Despite the burn in her throat for blood, the silent vampire kept her gaze trained on the Sherriff and not her Tru Blood.
"For that little act. I'm considering having you fangs taken out." A feral hiss flew from her lips, fangs retracting out and she full out snarled at Maci. The burn of the silver subsides as long as she didn’t move, but she pulled against her captors to once again get at Maci. Another wild roar as she fought to get closer to Maci and then she spit right at Maci, aiming directly for her pretty little face.
“Take my fangs you wanna be mother fucker!” She spat with enough venom to turn acid into ice, a challenging grin on her lips. "How would that fair? A vampire with no fangs, how humiliating. You'd barely be a vampire. Then I could take you to the court, and your fangs wouldn't have grew back by then that would make it even better." By now Lorena was practically trembling in anger. “A vampire without a backbone, how humiliating, not to mention weak-“ She mocked, eyes narrowed. “-Having to have superficial cronies do all the work because their poor excuse of a sheriff cant do shit on her own.” Even for Lorena that was bold, tone and all.
It was amazing what such a simple emotion as anger could to so a self-important narcissistic vampire.

Maci simply laughed at her insults, words didn't bother her anymore like they did when she was human. "You've had a few hundred years to better yourself. And yet you've not. Vampires like you are the reason we're having a hard time getting the humans to accept us." Her gaze went from the vampire to Ashley, "You go find out everything you can about her." She looked at Brett, "And you can escort our friend down to the basement. Get Kevin to help you, I want to wear her fangs as earrings." She said before waving them off and going about her nightly duties.
Hours later Ashley came back with everything she knew about the vampire, Maci then ordered her to take some Tru Bloods down to her. The next night, after Maci had cooled off some from the previous night she made her way down to the basement. She opened the door and walked in, the room was only lit by one light in the middle of the room and a few on the walls. It was cold and the flooring was cement, the back of the door was coated in sliver, Brett stood at the door holding it open, so it wouldn't close on Maci. She walked to the door of the sliver cell that was in the middle of the room.
"Lorena." She spoke her name, it was one of the things Ashley had found out. "I now understand why you are the way you are. I know of your progeny, and how he didn't feel about you the way you felt of him." She spoke softly. "I'm truly sorry for the way I acted. But disrespect is one thing I simply cannot stand." She apologized, "If you want, I can phone the hotel and they can send over a human for you. They are willingly, but you can't kill them." She offered.
