Silence took the manor as the sun began to set. The great orb of fire sent shadows fleeing, flaring one last time to prove that while it may disappear for 12 hours every day that it would be back with fierceness to force all who could not stand its light into hiding again. And as the sun set, so did Nikolai rise. It had been a rough two weeks. His sleeping patterns had not improved until the few nights before when he'd taken to having one of his guards, a female one, offer him certain pressure point relief which in the end knocked him out painlessly, to give him the sleep needed to stop the bleeds and the cramping that came soon after. Tonight, however, he stirred slowly, enveloped in the cool of his bed, silken sheets smooth against his barely clothed body. As he lay there, he was barely aware of the footsteps moving around outside his door - Jesse had been allowed to walk around the house, as long as there was someone watching him, and so far he hadn't escaped, or at least tried to... not yet, anyway. He knew the footsteps didn't belong to his Fae, because they were too heavy, and the figure causing them had no heartbeat. One of his guards, woken early to keep an eye on their 'captain'. One of his age really had no need for guards, but it was nice to have that little extra protection so he wasn't constantly on his guard. That did grow boring at times, and he had little patience for people who wanted to attack him.
Finally, he decided it was time to emerge, and possibly get something to eat before he came face to face with Jesse. The last thing he needed was to jump the younger man while he was hungry. A soft groan left him and he pulled himself from the comfort of his bed - he'd thrown out his coffin as soon as light tight windows had been manufactured - and padded across the carpeted floor to his dresser, wearing only a pair of loose fitting white pajama pants. His hair, ruffled and messy, fell into his eyes as he rummaged through his drawers, finally finding a suitable outfit. Shimmying out of his pajama pants, he tugged on the dark denim jeans and the dark grey long sleeved shirt he'd pulled out of his dresser. While he was an old vampire, he certainly didn't act like it half the time. Unlike most who were civilised - and yes, Nikolai was civilised most of the time - he acted like a child at times, perhaps it was because he'd never had a childhood, not really... As he stood there, he let his fingers drift over his violin - he'd had it for longer than he could remember. All he knew was it had been one of the first ever made, and it was a beautiful specimen. he could play, quite beautifully too, a skill he'd learnt during the nights of his immortality. His fingers slipped away from the violin as he turned his attention back to his reflection in the mirror. He looked like a child... a child with a monstrous gift, and a monstrous past.
His head turned towards the door as he heard the door handle turn, and his scowl faded as he caught sight of the bag of donor blood one of his guards held out for him. Nikolai gave the younger vampire a grateful smile and took the bag, following the taller and older in appearance vampire from the room, closing his door behind him. One hand gently raking through his mussed hair in an attempt to tame it as the other tipped the bag so the warm liquid could trickle past his extended fangs and down his throat, he made his way down the hall, aware of the presence of his men a few feet behind him, before he stepped into the kitchen, surprised to see Jesse standing at the breakfast bar, eating.
Shocked into silence, Nikolai finished the bag of blood and tossed it into the trash before his eyes slowly found Jesse's, and he cleared his throat. "Good evening," he said slowly, finally breaking the silence that had fallen between them. He couldn't help it, as soon as a whiff of the hybrid's scent washed past him, his eyes dropped to the boy's neck and he felt his mouth water. For even if he had just eaten, there was nothing that tasted as good as Jesse's blood. And he hadn't had a taste since their first meeting two weeks prior. Since then he'd kept his distance, except the occasional greeting on his way out on business, or when he was returning. In all actuality, he was a little embarrassed at his actions - acting like a coy schoolgirl around her crush - but it had been so long since his last encounter of the romantic kind, and he was worried that he'd scare Jesse off. Not that he'd mean to do it intentionally, but he was brutish, and at times cruel. He didn't know how to be nice. Not when it mattered, anyway.
"I see you haven't escaped yet," the comment had a hint of amusement to it, as well as relief in the fact that he HAD indeed not tried to escape. The smile that tugged at his lips didn't meet his eyes, and he rubbed his left shoulder as he dropped down into a stool, watching Jesse with appraising eyes.

Jesse had amazed himself the past couple of weeks. With Nikolai’s presence in the house he hadn’t tried any attempts. He’d been behaving himself for an unknown reason. And in return he was granted the freedom to roam around the house, with a guard in tow. He had a human during the day and a vampire during the night. Though he preferred his vampire guard over the human one. He was a bit more talkative, and he’d gotten to know him quite well. Though all he knew was the guy’s last name, and that’s what everyone called him, Parker. Apparently he and his mate, Emily, been in Nikolai’s service for well over six hundred years. But even though Jesse was behaving, didn’t mean he’d stopped giving a hard time to people. But the more this became normal to him the more he started to show his true nature. A kinder person than they’d all seen. But still holding the same strength and determination they all knew he held. He and Parker sat in what he guessed was some kind of study. Marble chess pieces moved across the board.
The fact that Nikolai had entered the room was confirmed when Parker stood to show his respect. Jesse however had remained seated. He’d seen him drinking blood before, and it surprised him as to how it just seemed ‘normal’ to him now. But there was something on Jesse. Though he knew he neighbor was without a doubt handling it, he couldn’t help but have his mind on his beloved animal. “Evening.” He responded. Keeping his voice flat and controlled. Jesse had come to have an attraction to the guy, something like a lure. Despite the fact he was a bird in a golden cage he’d been treated very well. But Nikolai’s comment brought its backlash. But Jesse fought it down with a hard swallow. And all he did was give Parker a look. The guy just nodded and walked out of the room, leaving Nikolai and himself alone.
And after a moment he spoke. “You said if I needed anything I could ask right?” he paused. “Well now I do have something to ask.” He said. Letting the fact he was about to ask the vampire who’d had him kidnapped to get something for him. “After two weeks, I’m pretty sure my cat at home is about to starve. If you could have someone go and check, or have the animal brought here, I would be grateful.” He spoke, keeping eye contact. Jesse felt out of place in a way. This was however the first time he’d even tried asking Nikolai for anything, and he didn’t know how he’d take a human missing a pet. But it was what it was. And all Jesse could do was ask him.

Parker had always been one of his favourites. A dear friend with whom he'd held many years of counsel and loyal conversations. It was for this reason that he'd asked Parker to watch over Jesse during the night, because he was the only one of his retinue that he trusted the most, save for Parker's mate Emily, of course. The two were like family to him, something that he'd never admit but kept close to his heart anyway. As he sipped the warm blood in his hands, he let his eyes drift over Jesse's form, no expression at all to his features to suggest at all what his mood was.
"You love this creature?" he asked softly, his eyes drifting away as he thought, hues darkening as his mind flooded with different scenarios. After the longest time of silence he straightened and handed his almost empty bag to Parker who had just reappeared. "It shall be done."
And with that, he was gone, leaving Parker with Jesse. He took a detour past the front hall, gathering his coat before he stepped out into the night air. He knew Jesse assumed that he'd send someone to get the creature. he was sure the human would not expect him to get it himself. Hands shoved into pockets as a cool breeze picked at Nikolai's slender body as he made his way down the street. It wasn't really all that far to Jesse's house, especially if he ran, and he soon found the cat his Fae had been talking about. Not so much skin and bones as sitting on the front porch digging into a bowl of dried cat biscuits. The next door neighbour was obviously helping Jesse out by keeping his creature fed. Kneeling, Nikolai held out his hand, watching to see the animal's reaction. Most animals didn't like vampires; it had something to do with the fact they had no heartbeat and they were, technically, unnatural creatures. And yet, the cat moved closer, nuzzling into his touch slowly. That brought a smile to the ancient vampire's lips, and slowly he drew the creature up against his chest.
It wasn't long before he'd returned home, the cat still nestled in his arms. Shrugging out of his coat he moved into the study where Parker and Jesse were still playing chess. His eyes briefly glanced to Parker, and the younger vampire smiled and left the room again with a nod, before Nikolai stepped forward, holding the cat out for Jesse to take. His eyes held the same emotion that was displayed on his face, a gentle smile that seemed to say 'I'm sorry' for everything he'd done.

Jesse sat in silence as he watched his request being considered. It was a simple enough question. To go and have someone check on his pet. But it was Nikolai’s responding question the surprised. Though it to was a simple question to answer. And that was how Jesse decided to reply. “Yes, I do.” And he did. That cat had been his most faithful company for years. And he’d never so much as forget about her. But now she was home alone for as long as he’d been here, with no one to look after her. He found himself unable to describe how he could love an animal the way he did. Though before he could say anything. Nikolai had made the decision that I would be done. And he watched him walk off. Assuming the he was probably going to send one of his many servants or guards to do so. And Parker had returned, and then they’re game resumed.
As the pieces moved around the board they continued to talk over several topics. Though Jesse mainly listened to what had to be said. Being a bookworm he was something of a history geek and a walking encyclopedia. It usually got on peoples nerves. But he new friend seemed to like the fact that his master’s new toy wasn’t as empty minded as some of the humans he’d known in his time. Jesse had a nag for getting to know something. And if he didn’t know it he took the time to figure it out. Parker had admitted his amazement of how Jesse’s attempt’s were always better planned that the last. And Jesse knew well that his new found friendship would spare him being hunted down if he ran.
A short time later Parker stood up and walked out of the room. And it was then Jesse noticed why. Nikolai was back, and it was what he had in his arms that brought a smile to Jesse’s face. He’d held the cat out for him to take from him but the cat was a second faster. It jumped from Nikolai’s hands and into his arms. The animal had recognized him by sight. And from the moment it landed there it began to purr loudly, rubbing her head under his chin and along his chest. And she stopped long enough for him to scratch the underside of her neck. The small copper name tag still dangled from her collar. With her three letter name engraved upon it. ‘Kit’
“Irm, she is half starved.” He said, paying her his much needed affection. And after a few moments of that he realized he was being watched. And he looked back up to meet Nikolai’s gave. “Thank you.” He said. This tone was different. It didn’t hold his usual sarcasm he’d been giving. It held a warmth that Jesse hadn’t shown in a little while in hopes he’d be gotten tired of.

The ancient was silent for the longest time. Affection. A weak, human emotion that he'd purged himself of years ago. An emotion that, at times, he wished he had more of. An emotion that he knew ran deep in the human make up, and even within other Supes. He even knew of other vampires who had learnt to love again. But could he? After 3 and a half millenniums on Earth, Nikolai was finding it hard to find anything that was worthy of his affection. Until now. While he knew Jesse couldn't stand him, deep within the ancient could feel something stir each time the hybrid smiled, a warmth that seemed to melt away a part of the ice block that had become his heart.
As he watched now, Kit - he'd looked at the collar as he'd returned to the house - giving her owner all the love she had in him, the love that he knew Jesse deserved, and it made his heart tighten, even if it wasn't beating. His hand lifted to his chest, and he seemingly clutched the spot over his heart, letting out a deep sigh before he turned away sharply, crossing to where Parker had returned with a glass of warm blood, knowing full well that hunger had gotten the better of his master. He met Parker's eye and nodded, mirroring the smile that the younger vampire briefly held before he turned back to Jesse, leaning against an arm chair as he took a sip of his drink.
"No need to thank me," he replied stiffly, tensing his shoulders as he met Jesse's smile with a seemingly blank expression. "It was not far to where you live...nor did she put up a fuss when I picked her up," his eyes drifted down to the creature and he let a small smile break the mask he'd put up as he finally sank down into the armchair and crossed one leg over the other, giving Jesse a proper smile in response to the tone that Jesse had offered him, "she really is an affectionate creature. It would have been a shame to deprive you of such love for any length of time..."
There it was. Once more spelling out just what Jesse's predicament was. Letting him know that he was a captive, nothing more.

Jesse shot Nikolai a look when he made a point that he would be here for some time. And it completely infuriated him how Nikolai changed moods so fast. Jesse just stood to his feet. His own attitude returned to something normal for Nikolai to recognize. His cat, though separated for two weeks, easily got the picture, and shot out the room. And by the time he’d reached Nikolai he to was standing. And several comments began to pass between the two of them. Mostly questioning and reasoning just how this captivity thing was going to work. And eventually this, somehow, lead to the two of making out down the hallway. Each one losing some article of clothing along the way. Jesse was unclear which room they had backed themselves into, at the moment he didn’t really care. His system was in overdrive and he didn’t want to think about what he was doing. Just that he was doing this.
And just what it had lead to was something earth shattering. Jesse didn’t see himself as celibate, but he had really ‘been’ with anyone for some time. But this was something of a whole new level for him. But now they lay there, they’re legs intertwined together, wrapped in silk sheets. Jesse’s body still gave off heat like a furnace. But he lay there, his propped up by his elbow. Letting his fingertips feel across the features and scars on Nikolai’s body. He tried to recount just how this had happened. But in the end, he didn’t much care how, but that it had. Jesse hadn’t denied there was an attraction he held for Nikolai. But he had been taken here without so much as an opinion of his concern on the matter. Though at this moment he wasn’t really in that state of mind.
He let his eyes drift over every contour of his form before returning to Nikolai’s gaze. “How did you get all of these?” he asked. His voice held a sense of concern. Jesse saw that Nikolai at many points in time had endured pain. And he was here, willing to listen and share in that. Somehow he felt compelled to try and ease that from Nikolai’s mind.

Nikolai had watched with amusement in his eyes as Jesse stood, and the cat he had so painstakingly gone to the trouble of collecting darted from the room. What had come next amused him even more. It seemed the hybrid had developed a backbone, and with the words of anger flying from the handsome boy's mouth, Nikolai couldn't help but feel a deep sense of attraction towards him. And he'd been sure to leave his mark on Jesse, in any way possible. His eyes lifted to meet Jesse's own curious one as they lay in bed some hours later, as he thought over what had happened, and why he'd fallen so easily into bed with Jesse. It was obvious there was attraction between the two: an argument that had caused Nikolai to grab jesse by the scruff of his neck and catch his lips beneath his own, an argument that spurred the two into a random guest room all the while tearing at each other's clothes before Nikolai had pushed him onto the bed and then he'd really given Jesse a reason to voice his opinions. Of course, the fact that those opinions came out in the form of very pleased moans added so much to Nikolai's ego.
Now lying in the aftermath, one arm behind his head, the other by his side as he stared up at the ceiling, he was most certainly aware of the warmth rolling off Jesse in pleasant waves, before he caught Jesse's words, flinching at the gentle trace of fingertips over age old scars. "Not all wounds heal when you become a vampire," he replied simply, catching hold of the hybrid's hand to press a chaste kiss to knuckles, his eyes slanting to meet Jesse's gaze. "And my people were a brutal people. I was a soldier by the time I was 12, forced to fight...and kill. I never made it past my 16th year."
He'd never told this to any other living soul - vampires didn't count, they were heartless and most of them didn't think of themselves as living anyway - and he knew that Jesse was only trying to ease his pain so his own captivity would be easier, but Nikolai felt a sense of relief as he spoke. "Many of them are old reminders from my battle masters. But these..." his fingers trailed over the collection of jagged scars that covered his sternum and shoulders. "My first proper battle against the Sea Peoples. It was the same battle where I was mortally wounded then turned. It was not a very pleasant time to be alive..."
Nikolai's gaze returned to Jesse, flicking over his features before he rolled and hovered over the younger man, one hand beside his head to hold himself up as the other grazed along his cheek and behind Jesse's head, tugging him close to catch his lips once more in a fervent embrace, the silken sheets barely covering the vampire's body as they hung from his hips.

Jesse hung on each and every word that passed Nikolai’s lips. And even though he had him here as a captive. It somewhat explained his manner about this whole thing. It should that Nikolai was a soldier. So it explained his view as well. But it really made him feel for him in a way. He was asking to be told this in the hopes of at least seeing a different side of him. And it was going with great success, Nikolai was showing he wasn’t completely cold and heartless. It seemed there was still a person in there somewhere. And maybe, just maybe, he could let that side of Nikolai shine through. But Jesse got closer to him as he continued to speak. Pressing his own body against that of Nikolai’s cool skin.
He smiled at him as he switched how they’re arrangement was. Nikolai hovering above him slightly. And was drawing him in for a kiss. At the same time, Jesse’s own hands found they’re way around Nikolai’s waist, his fingertips flexing into Nikolai’s cool skin. He was wanting more and more of him as this game continued. He broke they’re kiss for a moment. “Just so we’re clear. I’m not a battlefield to fought over, or with.” He paused. “If something between us is going to work, captive or not, we need to find some kind of middle ground.” He finished. And kissed him again. And at the same time, he wondered if something could work between them.
Not even moments later he could feel Nikolai's fangs against the skin of his neck. His body arched a little in response, waiting for him to bite. But he didn't feel like he had the first time he'd been bitten by him. This one he wanted. This one he needed and craved. And a sounding groan of want only confirmed that.

Nikolai was well known in the vampiric community for winning most of his personal conquests, whether it be someone he was hunting down for the tribunal, or someone he was interested in, so it would come to no surprise to anyone that Jesse was now receiving him quite so willingly. His mouth claimed Jesse's, one hand tangled through his hair, almost tugging at the strands before he drew him closer, his free hand still keeping his weight from falling onto the hybrid. He couldn't think, no, he didn't want to. All he wanted to do was concentrate on the warmth radiating from the man beneath him, on the soft caress of warm fingertips against his waist and up his back, and the way Jesse's lips seemed to respond exactly the right way to set his entire body on fire. A soft growl of annoyance sounded in his throat as Jesse pulled away, his eyes hazed over as he glared down at the hybrid.
"you are quite wrong," he growled softly, his lips crushing against Jesse's again before the hybrid broke their kiss once more. "There is no battle because it has already been lost...You really have no idea. Middle ground? How can there be middle ground?"
For surely there could be no middle ground when Nikolai's being was fueled by Jesse's presence. Though, he'd never admit that knowing the fae was around brought him great happiness, or that he prayed every day that he wouldn't just one day disappear, or attempt to escape. He longed for Jesse to know that it pained him to keep him against his will, but he had already grown so attached that he didn't want to say goodbye. A sigh left him, trailing softly across Jesse's jaw as he looked away. His body tense, he was silent for the longest time before movement from Jesse made him continue, pressing his lips in a heated kiss to Jesse's jaw, before he moved down to his throat. His fangs had been out the entire time, but for the first time in ages, he'd forgotten about them, only truly aware of their presence when they just dragged along Jesse's throat. Feeling the shiver that ran through his lover, and the groan of want on his breath, Nikolai's lips curved into a smirk and he tangled his hand through Jesse's hair once more and tugged his head to the side. His breath was harsh against the revealed skin, his tongue trailing a wet mark over the pulsing vein before his eyes closed and a possessive and very animalistic growl left his throat and he sunk his fangs deep into Jesse's throat.
That first rush sent spirals of heat through Nikolai's entire body, his free hand lowering to grasp Jesse's waist, pressing their bodies together as he drank slowly, savouring both the taste of the fae within him, and the pleasure that they'd both previously been swept away by. This time, when he bit, it was different. There was no recoil, no fighting from his lover. They both wanted it, and Nikolai knew that he wasn't the only one feeling pleasure from it. His eyes opened as he finally pulled back, licking the wound as he heard another soft moan pass Jesse's lips, the sound making him shiver in delight before he pulled back and looked down at him. His eyes searched Jesse's face, before he brought his finger to his lips and bit down on it, tasting his own blood before he held it out for Jesse. A little bit of vampire blood wouldn't do anything, save for possibly bonding the two of them together. He didn't know why he did it, what had possessed him to offer Jesse his own blood. It was as if his body was acting on his own.

Jesse could barely recall what Nikolai was saying to him. All he could feel was him feeding from him. It made his fingertips press gently into Nikolai's skin. He encouraged him to continue with what he was doing. This was so different from the first time. The first time had been so cold in his attempt. This one held a much better feel. He couldn't explain why. Maybe because he wanted it. He needed to fell Nikolai's fangs in his neck. He wanted him, now more than anything else. He needed him, he craved him.
Only gasps and moans of enjoyment came from him. They were the only sounds he could muster. He’d tried his best to hide his feeling from him. But now they were clear, Nikolai had him completely. But he continued to let his hands find they're way around his body. Needing to feel his cool skin. But even feeling Nikolai's fang come out of his skin brought a moan from his lips. One of refusal. Why did he have to stop?
But now something else happened when Nikolai stopped feeding. Something he didn't expect for the vampire at all. He watched as Nikolai bite his own finger, letting his own blood run free. He watched as he lower the bleeding finger to his lips. And for a moment Jesse didn't move. Then he took Nikolai’s hand, keeping his hand clear of the blood. And took his finger into his mouth, taking Nikolai's blood. And the taste was nothing like anything he'd ever known. It was who Nikolai was. And he wanted all of him. But then his empathy shifted in turn. He could feel Nikolai's feelings. What had just happened, he didn't know.
