Personality: The Sympathizer. Despite being a vampire, Aaron is sympathetic towards humanity. His previous cold demeanor towards them was changed when he realized that not all human beings were monstrous. He is forgiving, loyal and compassionate. It is these ideals he values because it brings him closer to what he once was, human. He values his “subjects” and protects all those who need his protection. He has a strong aversion to human blood unless it is given willingly or he is killing out of mercy. Violence has long grown out of his favor and if there is a peaceful alternative he will find it. This polite and mannered behavior has come from a millennia of searching for purpose and the truth about salvation.
The Sovereign. As King of New York, Aaron must rule with ultimate authority. He has returned to his era when he sits upon his “throne” and rules New York vampires with the ideas that the Roman Republic thrived on. He values the opinions of his people, but it ultimately his decision that prevails in the end. Nevertheless, he tries to include their wants as well, within reason.
The Monster. Two millenias is a very long time, but even then he is still a vampire. He is unchanging and at times the savagery and anger he once felt returns to him. Anyone who threatens his loved ones or himself will face the threat of death. There is very little that makes Aaron angry, but if it comes down to it, he can be cruel and without mercy. He is often ashamed of this kind of behavior, but he also admits this is part of his nature. His sympathies disappear and his morals hang by the thinnest of threads. This is the part of him that survived his death from humanity and enables him to be an efficient ruler. His youthful appearance pales against the monstrosity he can commit.

History Information

History: Aaron was born somewhere around 100 BC during the Roman Republic as Octavius Gaius Varro. He was the son of a Roman Praetor and therefore held a status of prestige in Rome. As a young child he was well educated in all areas, but focus was spent in politics, war strategy and military training. There is not much that is known about Aaron’s human life, but what he does remember is that he was alive during the time of Spartacus. Aaron was about twenty when Spartacus rebelled against Batiatus and Rome. He remembered his turning vividly. His father had sent him to attend a sort of party at the Batiatus household. It was during that time that the slaves revolted and killed everyone within. Aaron was so badly injured that he was sure he was going to die. As he lay in a pool of blood that was a combination of a his own and the dead around him, a “god” came and saved him. Impressed by his determination to save the others around him and the savagery of his skills, a vampire by the name of Aurelius turned Aaron.
The two remained together until the fall of the Roman Empire, but shortly after Aurelius released Aaron. It has been centuries since the two have seen each other and due to the lack of communication between the two, Aaron has assumed his father has long been dead.
After his release Aaron roamed the Eastern hemisphere, spending most of his time in France and Russia. His early years as a vampire were spent ravaging small towns and even large cities. His lack of control was based upon the idea that humans were savage and deserved to be treated like prey. It wasn’t until the latter part of his first millennia that he began to pity humanity. It was during this millenia that he began to restructure himself. He did his best to control himself and he vowed to only feed off humans who faced death or caused death. This millennia was also spent testing his skill of glamouring as a means of “tea cup” feeding, where he took harmless amounts of blood from several humans in order to satisfy his thirst, but keep his conscience clean.
Aaron was never a stationary vampire. His time spent in cities were limited to years or months at a time. It wasn’t until the late sixteenth century that he began to settle down. He spent most of his life in England eventually sneaking into the Roanoke Expedition. He knows the true fate of the colonists, but to this day has kept it secret. During this time Aaron and participated in many of the American wars. Fighting during the night battles of the Revolution and attacking southern camps during the civil war. It was during the civil war that he found his fledgling, the dying confederate soldier Chiar Nobyll whom he released shortly after the Great Revelation. He grew extremely fond of his progeny and was considerably attached. It was with great difficulty that he released him, but he felt it was for the better to let Chiar live his own life.
The authority dubbed Aaron as King of New York. He has spent most of his time there up until now. He now visits Bon Temps in search of his missing fledgling and Sheriff. Aaron is now completely interested in the “charity case” that his child has been funding. The particular circumstance may prove to be beneficial to him, especially if his child's "beneficiary" is truly gifted. He is also suspicious as to whether or not his Sheriff has abandoned him for the Queen of Louisiana.
